Is it worth it to accept credit cards? If you want to stay in business it is.
I know that when you're first starting off in your business you wonder about many things. There are so many things to take care of. But one on the things you need for sure is a credit card machine.
Most consumers have at least one credit card and maybe a debit card. If you don't have a credit card machine, you could be decreasing your sales by about 70%.
It doesn't matter what type of business you have, ie retail, home based, etc. And it also doesn't matter what price points your products sell for. Here's one man's story of how a credit card machine helped him.
"I found out about a particular credit card machine through someone else on the net. I'd toyed with the idea, but always dismissed it thinking it would be too expensive since the things I sold didn't cost that much in the first place. Luckily (believe it or not) I broke my foot and was confined to sitting by my computer without moving (except for bedtime) for 2 months straight. I had nothing else to do, so I went ahead and filled out the paperwork to apply for a merchant account and sent them in."
"I couldn't believe it when I was accepted, since I was just a small home-based mail order business. I was nervous and excited...wondering if it would really make any difference in my sales. Also, I worried if I'd picked a reputable and reliable company to work with."
"It's been almost 5 years now and I can truthfully say it was the best decision I ever made. My income jumped more than ten times over within the first 3 months of accepting credit cards! I paid for my little credit card processing machine in the first month. From there on, it was all profit."
