Everything you want to know about a credit card application
Applying for an online credit card is very easy, you just fill out a few questions on the credit card application and you have fast instant approval – right? Not exactly. Let’s walk through the credit card application process and find out what the company wants to know about you.
You can find a credit card offer from many companies including Visa, Aria, Discover, American express, Capital one to name a few. Many companies will take your credit card application with only a few basic questions, but the information you provide will determine whether you get a secured or unsecured credit card.
The credit card application will ask if you have ever declared bankruptcy, they want to know if you have any outstanding accounts past 60 days, and they want a previous credit history. The first thing that is considered when processing a credit card application is your employment status and credit bureau report. Credit reporting agencies will help the Card Company assess their risk in issuing a card to you.
For students or people re-establishing their credit, there are secured credit cards available. Most people with a decent credit rating will get an unsecured credit card with a credit limit and other services the card issuer can offer.
