Fight inaccurate credit reporting by checking your credit history and taking immediate steps to fix credit report statement. Credit bureau’s can fix credit report at greater speed and accuracy if you report errors right away.
To fix credit report; contact the company in which the error occurred, asking that a written statement of the error be sent to all the credit bureaus; make sure you follow up with the credit bureaus to guarantee the changes have been made; make photocopies of any documents that support your claim; write a letter to the credit bureaus listing the mistake, stating what is wrong, and include your full name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number.
If you disagree with the credit bureau’s findings, you may insert a statement in your credit report without charge. Issuing the statement every time the report is sent out will fix credit report. Send the letter by certified mail and keep the receipt and a copy of your letter.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, any change or fix credit report should take a reasonable amount of time approximating around sixty days. At times the process of repair can take longer if the consumer doesn’t follow up.
