Figuring out the Canada credit report
Using the Canada credit report system new opportunities to obtain credit, keeps credit costs low, increases the speed of credit decisions, and fuels our credit-based economy. In Canada, credit report benefits both consumer and businesses.
A Canada credit report contains personal information such as, name, current and previous addresses, Social Insurance Number, telephone number, date of birth, current and previous employers, credit history of paying bills, public records (judgements, bankruptcies, registered items), inquiries, and possibly banking information.
When you apply for credit in Canada, businesses and credit granters will use your Canada credit report to assess your ability to pay bills and debts on time. Credit granters look at your credit history and final credit score to decide if you can manage credit well.
You can obtain a copy of your Canada credit report through credit bureau’s such as Equifax or Trans Union. This will provide you with a record of up to six or seven years of credit history to consider before you apply for a loan, lease or credit card.
