My credit rating, what does it mean to me?
Where does my credit rating come from? Well, your credit rating comes from a scoring of your credit report, and your credit report is a type of consumer report. It contains information about where you work, live, and how you pay your bills. It also may show whether you have been sued or arrested or have filed for bankruptcy. Does my credit rating show everything?
What if my credit rating is low? These days if you don’t have at least an average credit rating, you will find that getting approved for any type of loan, or credit card, will be very difficult, if not impossible. That is why I feel that it is imperative that people should get their credit rating as soon as possible, especially if they have never seen their credit history before. If you have a low credit rating, it is possible that you will pay higher interest rates, insurance rates, and much more. You will definitely be losing out on all the best creditors and banks have to offer.
Where can I check my credit rating? Go into your favourite search engine and type in “My Credit Rating”, all the best credit report sites will come up offering a variety of affordable credit report packages. Though, credit bureaus will provide a free copy of your credit report if you've been turned down for credit in the past 60 days. If you are unemployed, on welfare or suspect you are a victim of credit fraud.
