My free credit report, how is my score?
Question:
I received my free credit report, and I was wondering, without personal specifics, how is my score? Plus, if it happens that my free credit report shows that my score would be bad how can I improve my free credit report.
Answer:
There are several types of credit scores available. Typically, the higher your score the better. Each individual lender decides what credit score rage it considers to be a good credit risk or a poor credit risk. For this reason, the individual lender is the best source to explain what credit score means in relation to the final credit decision. The credit score is only one component of information. So, if I was to find out that my free credit report equaled a bad credit score I would be looking at the different ways to improve it.
A good start to improving my free credit report would be to improve the factors that influence my credit score. These various factors include the following; payment history, outstanding debt, length of credit history, severity and frequency of negative credit information such as bankruptcies, charge-offs, and collections, and the ratio of credit used to credit available. Start improving in all those areas and you would be on the right track to improving your credit score.
