The best credit report to get is called a merged credit report
There are three major credit bureaus potentially recording and reporting information about you. These three credit bureaus are Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union. Your credit report can be slightly different at each of these credit bureaus depending on which bureau each of your creditors report to, and if errors have been made, computer or human. This is why it is in your best interest to get yourself a merged credit report.
Well, that and the fact that most mortgage lenders check all three of your reports when evaluating you credit risk. The information on the merged credit report may affect you ability to obtain credit. You want your merged credit report to have a positive effect, not a negative effect. That is why you need to check your merged credit report, to ensure all three bureaus are up to date, accurate, with no errors, especially when you are going for a mortgage. No surprises is a very good thing, and no surprises should equal smooth sailing in the loan application.
