Capital One Visa: 2 Thumbs way up
Capital One Visa seems to be getting "2 thumbs" up from consumers that have been using their cards. Here's the story of one man.
Capital One Visa sent him a mailer indicating that he could have a secured Visa card, requiring only a $99 deposit and giving him a $300 line of credit at 20.74%. He was very happy with this offer compared to other offers he had received because his credit was less than perfect. (Way less than perfect).
(Just a note of warning. If you receive a "come-on" from a credit company saying that your approved if you send them some money in advance, beware. Some of these companies are sleazy and you should check with the Better Business Bureau before signing up).
After some months of making timely payments, he requested an increase on his credit limit and was given one. He states that the important thing to be aware of is not going over your credit limit, however, as it happened to him a couple times and being slapped with a $25 over-the-limit fee is not very pleasant.
And if his paycheck for the month was below usual, he simply payed the $10 minimum payment until the next month, but paying off the balance in full each month is of course the best way to go. One drawback is that their website is sometimes down for checking account information, but not a big deal as you can simply call the customer service by phone. And finally, the $29 annual fee is swallowable.
