Internet banking customers can now do their banking business 24 hours per day 7 days per week from anywhere in the world. Since the inception of the Internet the way we conduct our business has changed immeasurably. The banking community has realized with the introduction of Internet banking (also known as Online banking) they can save money while providing their customers with greater access to banking services.
In order to get started with Internet banking you must have either an IBM compatible or Macintosh computer. You will also need a modem, an Internet browser and of course, access to the Internet through a ISP (Internet Access Provider). The recommended browsers include Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or newer, Netscape Communicator 4.7 or Netscape Navigator 4.08.
At this point in time Internet banking can not be accessed through a Palm Organizer or Web TV. However, at the rate technology is changing it may be possible in the near future to use such devices.
Many people today use personal financial management software to keep track of their personal finances. Some of the more popular software include Quicken and Microsoft Money. Both these products can be used for Internet banking. For Quicken, use the Quicken Interchange Format (QIF-Long). For Microsoft Money, use the OFX export type.
